The Gashlycrumb Tinies is an abecedarian book written by Edward Gorey that was first published in 1963. Gorey tells the tale of 26 children (each representing a letter of the alphabet) and their untimely deaths in rhyming dactylic couplets.
Younger I used to love this book for it’s dark gothic humor, the absurdity of life and death from A to Z. Then a became a dad, and the book started to resonate differently, the expression of my biggest fears as a parent.
And like a way to exorcise it, this is the work in progress photographic adaptation.
